C2GRID Selected to NATO DIANA Programme to Advance AI-Supported Course-of-Action Tools

Tallinn, Estonia (10 December) – Estonian-Ukrainian defence startup C2GRID has been selected for the NATO DIANA Accelerator Programme to develop AI-enabled tools that enhance tactical-level decision-making. C2GRID was chosen as one of 150 companies from 3,680 applicants in DIANA’s most competitive cohort to date.

Building on its 3D situational awareness platform, C2GRID will develop AI-supported threat-detection and course-of-action assistance tools to help unit commanders evaluate options and accelerate decision-making in complex warfare environments – the focus of the company’s participation in the DIANA Programme.

Modern battlefields produce immense volumes of video and sensor data. Combined with an understanding of adversary behaviour, doctrine and battlespace terrain, this information can support tools that give commanders clearer options and enable more efficient decision-making,” said Professor Vladimir Kuts, CEO of C2GRID.

Combining battlefield footage and data for AI decision-making

C2GRID’s platform converts ordinary video feeds from UAVs, UGVs, and other common sources into a near-real-time 3D digital duplication of the environment, bringing multiple sensor and data layers together into a single operational picture. This fused information strengthens situational awareness, enables new ways to detect enemy activities, and forms the foundation for AI-supported course-of-action assistance.

We’re developing a platform that unifies battlefield data and fuses it to the fullest,” added Kuts.

Built on Ukrainian frontline experience and brought to NATO

C2GRID is building its products with direct input from Ukrainian frontline units and will continue refining them based on real operational use.

Experience from the field has affirmed the need for speed, simplicity, and tools that work with whichever sensors are available. Reflecting these requirements, the system is hardware-agnostic, lightweight to deploy, and designed to integrate easily with C2 environments used across NATO and Allied forces.

DIANA allows us to continue developing the technology shaped through our work with Ukrainian frontline units and to better understand how it could support NATO’s operational needs. Our aim is to bring practical knowledge and operational insights from Ukraine to the wider Alliance,” said Kuts.

Rapid 3D modelling and data fusion support broad dual-use needs

While C2GRID’s primary focus is defence, the underlying technology has clear dual-use potential across civilian and commercial domains. Rapid 3D reconstruction and multi-layer data fusion from conventional video formats can support emergency services, public-safety operations, infrastructure assessment, industrial site planning, and observational tasks.

Support from NATO DIANA

As part of the 2026 cohort, C2GRID will work within DIANA’s Data-Assisted Decision Making challenge area, which focuses on technologies that help operators make faster and better-informed decisions in complex environments.

Through the programme, C2GRID will receive contractual funding, tailored mentorship, and access to DIANA’s network of 16 accelerator sites and more than 200 test centres across 32 NATO nations. This support enables real-world validation, operational feedback, and rapid refinement of technologies intended for defence and security users.

C2GRID extends its thanks to Sparkup Tartu Science Park and Tehnopol Startup Incubator for organising the Defence Business Lab accelerator aimed at preparing startups for NATO DIANA, with funding from the Ministry of Defence and support from the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
